One safe place for each bank account's API connection
Each company bank account carries its own connection settings - provider, sandbox or production, App ID - and the API secret and tokens stay closed to everyone but your system administrator.
Bank Connector (technical name viin_bank_connector) is an Odoo 18.0 app for Odoo Community, Odoo Enterprise and Viindoo Cloud, built for the accountant who maintains company bank accounts and the administrator who connects them.

Odoo version
18.0 (Odoo Community, Odoo Enterprise, Viindoo Cloud)
Category
Accounting/Accounting
Depends on

Adds
1 extended model (Bank Account)
Best for
Accountant / treasury officer, system administrator
Not for
Connecting a bank on its own - a provider app such as BIDV Connector is required
Key features
Connection settings on the bank account, Credentials for administrators only, One base for every bank app
How It Works
Install it together with a bank provider app such as BIDV Connector.
1
Open the company bank account
Open Contacts > Configuration > Bank Accounts and open the company bank account. A Bank Connector section sits next to the account number: choose the bank provider and whether the account talks to the bank's sandbox or to production, and enter the App ID. The screens on this page are shown with BIDV Connector installed.
2
The administrator enters the credentials
The App Secret and the tokens are shown to, and can be changed by, users with the Administration / Settings right only. An accountant who opens the same bank account sees the provider, the environment and the App ID, but not the App Secret or the tokens.
3
Connect
The Connect Bank button, visible in the first screenshot above, starts the connection. What happens next is defined by the provider app of the chosen bank.
What You Get
Connection settings on the bank account
Provider, environment and App ID are stored on the bank account they belong to, so nobody has to look for a separate settings screen.
Credentials for administrators only
The App Secret, access token and refresh token are readable and editable by system administrators only.
Sandbox and production kept apart
Every account states which environment it uses; new accounts start in Sandbox.
One base for every bank app
Bank provider apps plug into the same fields and the same Connect Bank button, and their API calls go through the shared request log.
What This App Does Not Do
Read this before you buy. Everything below is something the app deliberately leaves to another app or to you.
It does not connect to any bank by itself
The provider list is empty until a bank provider app is installed, for example BIDV Connector.
It does not import statements or payments
There is no bank-statement, transaction or reconciliation feature in this app.
It does not hide every setting
Provider, environment and App ID are visible to anyone who can open the bank account; only the secret and the tokens are restricted.
Works Well With
Apps from the same stack, built to fit this one:
BIDV Connector
Adds BIDV as a provider and VietQR collection on top of this base.
viin_bidv_connector
Who Should Use Bank Connector?
Accountant / treasury officer
Sees on each bank account which bank API it is connected to and in which environment.
System administrator
Keeps API secrets and tokens in one place that other users cannot read.
